Terms of Service

mandarin.best is an online Chinese learning platform for overseas learners, offering HSK and YCT vocabulary study and practice, KIDS Chinese picture book reading, and literacy assessment. The service is available at mandarin.best.

The KIDS module is intended for children and must be used under parent or guardian supervision with a parent-created account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. You are responsible for keeping your password secure, may not share your account, and may not create multiple accounts to evade limits. Registration information must be accurate.

mandarin.best offers a free tier (limited features) and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions are billed by Stripe. Prices are listed on the pricing page and quoted in US Dollars ($). Applicable taxes are calculated and collected by Stripe at checkout. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access remains active for the remainder of the paid period.

You agree not to: reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code; scrape or harvest data beyond normal interactive use; resell or commercially redistribute the service; use the service to transmit malware or illegal content; interfere with service security or bypass paywalls; or use automated systems to create accounts. Violation may result in account suspension or termination.

The mandarin.best name, logo, software, designs, and original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for your own learning. HSK and YCT word lists are official curricula and not owned by us. Content you create within the service remains yours. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display that content solely to operate the service for you.

You can stop using mandarin.best at any time and delete your account from account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if continued use poses legal or security risk, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination survive.

The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will cause you to pass any HSK or YCT exam.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, mandarin.best and its officers, employees, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless mandarin.best against any third-party claim arising from your violation of these terms or misuse of the service, except to the extent caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.

These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be resolved in the courts located in Hong Kong, and you and we consent to personal jurisdiction there. Where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights, those rights still apply.

We may update these terms when the service or our legal obligations change. The date at the top reflects the latest revision. For material changes we will notify you by email or through an in-app notice. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
